What you get by default
Every SPION event gets a live page at a URL like spionlive.com/e/your-event — fully functional, shareable, and fine for the overwhelming majority of events. A custom domain doesn't unlock any extra functionality; it's purely about the URL itself.
When a custom domain actually matters
- You're running this as a recurring, branded property — an annual conference, a recurring meetup series — where the URL itself is part of your brand and gets printed on physical materials, sponsor decks, or repeated marketing.
- You're working with sponsors or a corporate audience where a generic third-party URL looks less credible than
events.yourcompany.comin an email or a slide. - You already own the domain or a subdomain of one you use for other purposes, and want everything under one consistent identity.
When it's genuinely just a nice-to-have
For a one-off meetup, a single workshop, or an event you're not running again, a custom domain is mostly cosmetic — the people you're inviting are clicking a link you sent them directly, not typing a URL from memory or judging your event by its domain name. The default SPION URL does the job at zero extra cost or setup.
What setting one up actually involves
It's self-service and available on every plan for ₹249 ($3) per year — meaningfully cheaper than most standalone domain-hosting products, since you're only paying for the connection, not registering a whole new domain through SPION. You add your domain from your dashboard, point a CNAME record at SPION from wherever your domain is registered, and once that's verified, your event pages start resolving on your own branded URL instead of the default one — with SSL handled automatically, so there's no separate certificate to manage.
Add your own domain to any plan
Self-service setup from your dashboard — point a CNAME at SPION, verify, and your event pages go live on your own URL.
